Hey Readers-

I don’t know what exactly compels me to publish the musings of an 11 year old Olivia.  This may not be of terrible interest to anyone.  I find these entries funny and honest, and I wanted to share these with my friends + colleagues (should they be interested).  Spelling mistakes left intact.

4-10-98, Friday

It’s not actually 1-1-98.  It’s 4-10-98.  But that doesn’t really matter.

Right now, I’m not doing much, except thinking about Leonardo DiCaprio.  He’s an actor and very cute.

By the way, my name’s Olivia.  I have blond long hair, blue eyes, and pale skin.  I guess you could say I’m pretty, but I’m skinny.  I guess I’m smart.

[nice to know there was a time in my life when I didn't hold skinny as an ideal.  hate that I was doubting my intelligence. girl, get confident!]

[numbers indicate who I like most, I think. whenever I ranked things, I always wrote their ranking number as a superscript at the end of the name / phrase.  not sure why]

I am so bored.  I’ve been sitting in a car for six hours.

To kill time, I’ll write down ways to get Z to like me.  ["Z" was the code name Chelsea + I had for our crushes.  We eventually developed a Z sign-language and secret words for body parts.  Why we were so clandestine about our crushes and sexuality, I'm not sure.]

4 – 11 – 98, Saturday

I woke up a few hours ago.

Right now, I’m ready to go to the beach.  I went there yesterday.  It was lovely.

Z is so cute!

4 – 12 – 98, Sunday.  Easter

Well, today’s Easter.  I got six Beanie Babies and a lot of candy.  The candy was Starburst, Three Musketeers bars, and Hersey Kisses.

All together, I must have at least 200 pieces of candy.

My hobbies & talents: [ranked]

1 – Ice-skating

2 – Collecting Beanies [not the hat.  the twelve year old me was not rocking beanies.  Beanies of the Baby variety]

3 – Collecting Basooca Joe comics

4 – Soccer

5- Excavating [for a long time, I wanted to be an archaeologist.  This aspiration nurtured by Jurassic Park]

6- Reading

3 – Dry Brokoli [maybe i had never tried Broccoli]

4- Zits [still hate these]

5- War [pretty sure I listed this out of obligation]

6- Going on errans [apparently, not as bad as war]

4 – 13 – 98, Monday

Right know, I’m at David Barton’s gym.  my mom has private lessons here.

I’m too young to use the equip.  I wish I could use the equip.  It looks fun.  [re: "equip" wow!  I was ahead of my time on the abbreviation craze]

Poem: Sixth Grade

I’m only Eleven and I live the opposite of Heaven.

All because of Sixth Grade.

We always get a ton of Homework.  Teachers act like it’s fun work.

Although at the end of the year, I will parade!

You know why?

It’s the end of sixth Grade!

[at this point in my journal, I drew a picture of the Titanic]

I am so bored.  I wish mom would finish dressing.

4-14-98, Tuesday

Today has got to of been the worst day of my life.  Here’s what happened:

Science: %60 on quiz

Math: A TEST!

Social Studies: Forgot Homework

Art: Had to practically re-paint my picture.

Lunch: No-one took me seriously.  [it's okay girl. you'll get into comedy.]

Speach: not too bad

Gym: I have to write an essay about gym safety

Language Arts: No one liked my story.

Chapel: Normal

Studyhall: only got one homework done.

Future: My dad will kill me

In conclusion, I HATE SCHOOL!

To take my mind of the horror, these are my nick-names: [present day Olivia recognizes unnecessary hyphen in "nick-name." wonder if Nickleodeon, Nick-specials and Nick-at-Nite hampered my grammar skills]

[below this entry is another picture of the Titanic.  In this image, however, it's crashing into an ice-berg.  I thought my fixation on the Titanic was all Leonard(o) related.  I do not recall this fixation on the actual ship of the Titanic.  Or it's demise]

Money that I would have: $653.03 [...would have if Mommy hadn't borrowed from me, I think]

Money that I should have: $300.00 [I guess I thought I should get less money than I would get (???).  a little bewildered by my logic]

Money borrowed: $300.00 [borrowed from me by mom]

Money that I want: A little more than most people. [ah]

Well, my dad got the news all I have to is school is as anoiyng as Leonard DiCaprio is cute!!! [Leonard DiCaprio makes a come back]

41 days left of school.  I say, ’41 days too many.’  [so hah!]
